As the former owner of Ginnie felt her story needed to be put on her website I felt like responding and tell my side..it sometimes seems hard for some people to stay with the facts... I sold a Tervueren puppy called Ginnie to a breeder in Hungary. After Ginnie was almost 8 months I received a complaint about missing teeth, the owner wanted to get rit of her and asked me money back ore a new puppy..I told the owner again about the risk of missing teeth in this combination and said to her that I didn't feel responsible for this ''problem''..this bitch was fine for breeding as missing teeth are not disqualifying, most important she was before informed about this possible risk and I feel that when somebody want so desperately a puppy from a combi with a big chance on missing teeth takes the risk for herself. Although I was sure we talked about it the owner convinced me that she didn't know and in the end I offered her puppy money back, I felt sorry for her as she was so disappointed. As I always take my dogs back when they need to leave their owner, Ginnie would of course come back to me...Surprisingly I got an e-mail after short time that she changed her mind....she wanted to keep her anyway, the kennelclub in Hungary told her she could breed her despite the missing teeth....so I thought this was the end of this story. Almost a year later I got an e-mail from Ginnie's owner of her having hip dysplasia.. I was told she had HD-D! I felt so sad for this poor dog and e-mailed back her owner immediately to ask how the dog was and if she was lame ore in pain...I was told that the vet assured her that Ginnie never would get any problems, she was not lame, had no pain and you could see nothing on her when she walked. That was a relief! I told Ginnie's owner that she would get a new puppy ore puppy money back in case of HD-D so we made arrangements to make Ginnie come home, I asked her to send me the official papers and photo of the x-ray, just out of curiosity. When I received the x-ray I took a good look and with already 20 years of experience I decided to see nothing wrong..I send the x-ray to my vet who works closely together with the university of Utrecht to ask his opinion..he answered me the picture was wrongly taken, the pelvis didn't lay straight on the pic which gave a wrong impression about the hip quality, he asked me to come over and to take new x-rays. I told Ginnie's owner that I would go for a second opinion and she told me to have no problems with that. After been to the vet and talked to him and comparing the two x-ray to each other he convinced me what was the problem with the Hungarian x-ray..he also told me that in his opinion the dog had A hips so nothing to worry. After this the x-rayes were send to an unrelated team of vets who assess the x-rays for our Kennelclub Raad van Beheer. I send an e-mail to Ginnie's owner before I had the official results what she wanted when the hips would come back A, most likely her vet made a mistake so there was a big chance she could get an A, in this e-mail I also offered to give Ginnie back when she was healthy.....the e-mail I received for an answer I will not put here....I even will not say how many times I was called a liar and a cheater..she also told me cleary that Ginnie was a worthless breeding dog and how I even had the nerve to offer this . I waited for the official hip result and when it came back A I told Ginnie's owner that nothing was wrong with Ginnie, she could live a perfectly normal live and could be bred as she was perfectly healthy, hoping she would be happy at least for the dog....none of that...she called me and my vet liars and cheaters and said she didn't believe the official FCI recognized result I send to her, she was sure I and my vet manipulated the pics and/ore the result!! I also told Ginies' owner the guarantee on possible health problems not applicable in this case, the official result made clear the dog had healthy hips so I felt no obligation to replace Ginnie. Surprisingly after that I received a very nice e-mail, she told me everybody could make a mistake, even her vet, and she wanted Ginnie back....I told her I already had Ginnie for months and received so many nasty e-mails from her that my trust in her was totally gone! I also told her that I didn't want to give Ginnie back to her as she was totally not interested in her health but now she didn't get any money back she choose to play innocent and wanted the dog back. As I was looking for some time for a new home already I told her that I promised Ginnie to someone. In this story the most important is that Ginnie can live a normal live, she has no stigma that says this dog can not run free ore do agility ore whatever sport, she will never have pain and will get no problems with movement. Ginnie's former owner seems only interested in her money. I consider myself as an honest person, I am honored when a breeder wants one of my puppy's and my guarantees are the normal ones every breeder gives in my opinion, I have in the past replaced a few dogs who had Hip dysplasia ore epilepsie no matter if they are living as a pet ore with a breeder, I replaced dogs to breeders who were sterile ore had eye problems ore were undershot, even dogs who died very young without me being responsible. Having and breeding dogs is a hobby and cost lots of money and effort and sometimes sadness..let's not forget that loving your dog is the most important, loving Ginnie is what I miss in this story! Now she chooses to blame me and tries to damage my name, well I guess everyone who knows me, knows how I ''work''. The welfare of the dogs is the most important for me. I am happy I saved Ginnie and cleared her HD status so she can live her life as a normal dog!
Comparing the two versions... Ginnie's owner claims not knowing about the risk for missing teeth, I have an e-mail that states differently Ginnie's owner find it so special sending me the official Hungarian hips results and x-ray after complaining the dog had a problem, I find it normal to get and see this papers as I am the breeder of the dog Ginnie's owner find it strange that I wanted Ginnie back, this I put in every contract ore speak about to everybody who I give a dog, all dogs come back to me as they have to leave their owner for whatever reason, no matter age ore health status Ginnies' owner claims I don't answer e-mails, after receiving her e-mail about Ginnie I answered the same day! Ginnie's owner claims she never transferred Ginnie to my name, this is not true, in Holland you need to have a dog on your name before you can go to a vet to make official HD x-rays, she wrote me a letter to transfer ownership. Ginnie's owner states she made Ginnie return to me on her expenses....curious to know a very friendly breeder who had to travel to Holland for his job took her with him, and I drove 400 km to pick her up where he stayed for the night, I offered him money but he refused and asked me to pay the membership of our Dutch club BHCN for him and her instead, which I did.
